Earlier in Hyderabad the first ever wifi campaign was ” Internet for All ” and this initiative was done by Airtel network. Which was spread over hitech city area and that wifi network provided about 17 wifi hotspot zones for techies and common citizens who are present over there.
Now second FREE WiFi campaign is started near Hussain sagar area. Now hyderabad is also smart city and it is moving towards the project “ Digital India “.
New wifi hotspot places in Hyderabad are near hussain sagar & they are as follows :
• Tank Bund
• Necklace Road
• Lumbini Park
• Mahatma Gandhi Bus Stop 
Previous Wifi zones :
• Cyber Towers- Madhapur police station
• Cyber Towers-Kothaguda junction
• Cyber Towers-Raheja Mindspace
The Present Wifi campaign is known as ” Hyderabad WiFi Pilot ” and this was launched by the IT Minister of Telangana state Mr. K Taraka Rama Rao on April 16th , 2015. This Pilot covers maximum tank bund area and BSNL-QuadGen has partnered with TS Government and operating this project.
Initially in this campaigns citizens in that area will be getting free 30 minutes per day. The speed of the wifi provided is about 2mbps to 20 mbps range. The data packets per user is limited and all these things will be free for certain period ( 3months) and then after that period network operators are planning to charge for their services.
Nearly 1800 to 2500 users can login at once and this network will be spread over 10kms around the tank bund. To get these services the user needs to search for wifi network through their smartphone. Then if they connect to that public network they will get a OTP Code which they should enter into the required area. So that they can enjoy the free wifi services.
